Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 26, 2026
FTC Tracker ("FTC Tracker," "we," "our," or "the App") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the FTC Tracker iOS/macOS app, Team Hub, Team Spaces, our website, newsletter forms, AI features, widgets, and related APIs.
1. Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on which features you use:
- Public FTC data: team numbers, team names, events, matches, rankings, awards, score breakdowns, and calculated statistics from public FIRST Tech Challenge sources and FTC Tracker APIs.
- Account and Team Hub data: email address, display name, profile image URL, team name, team number, region, member roles, invite codes, tasks, announcements, budget items, purchase requests, inventory parts, notes, and related timestamps.
- Team Spaces data: space name, team number, event name, join code, browser/device client ID, scouting entries, collaborative notes, optional author name, tags, note content, and uploaded space or note images.
- Newsletter data: email address, signup source, IP address for abuse prevention/rate limiting, and subscription metadata.
- AI feature data: prompts, rulebook questions, voice scouting transcripts, model mode, generated responses, AI usage counts, and Pro eligibility status. Voice scouting sends transcript text to our AI service so it can create structured scouting notes.
- Subscription data: Apple in-app purchase entitlement information and, where used for web billing or backend entitlement tracking, Stripe customer/subscription identifiers, product IDs, billing status, and current subscription period dates. We do not receive full payment card numbers.
- Notifications: if you allow push notifications, we store an Apple Push Notification service device token linked to your signed-in user so Team Hub notifications can be delivered.
- Device, diagnostics, and analytics data: app version, build, platform, crash/error details, performance traces, page views, feature usage events, and other diagnostics used to keep the app reliable.
- Local app data: favorites, settings, cached FTC data, scouting notes, templates, folders, match/practice scoring sessions, attached photos, and credentials or tokens stored on your device.
2. App Data and Usage
FTC Tracker stores some data locally on your device for performance, offline use, and normal app functionality. Local data may include scouting notes, folders, templates, match scoring history, practice scoring history, photo attachments, favorites, settings, cached public FTC data, and signed-in session tokens. Local data remains on your device unless you delete it, uninstall the app, clear app data, or choose a feature that syncs or uploads it.
Team Hub and Team Spaces are collaborative features. Content you add to a shared team workspace or space may be visible to other people with access to that team, invite code, or space.
3. Pro Subscription
FTC Tracker Pro may be managed through Apple's in-app purchase system and related backend entitlement checks. Apple processes App Store payments under its own terms and privacy policy. We may store entitlement records such as product ID, status, current period dates, Apple original transaction ID, and whether your account has Pro access.
If Stripe-backed billing is used for a web or backend subscription flow, Stripe processes payment information. We may store Stripe customer and subscription identifiers and billing status, but not full card numbers.
4. Rulebook Chat AI
Rulebook Chat, voice scouting, and other AI features send your prompt, question, or transcript to FTC Tracker's AI service. Our AI service may use trusted AI providers to generate responses and may call FTC Tracker data tools to look up public FTC team, event, ranking, and statistics data. Do not include sensitive personal information in AI prompts or voice scouting transcripts.
We track AI usage counts and entitlement status so we can enforce free limits and Pro access. AI responses are intended for educational and scouting assistance and should not be treated as official FIRST rulings.
5. Analytics
We use analytics and diagnostics to understand usage, find bugs, measure performance, and improve FTC Tracker. The app and related web products may use Sentry for crash/error reporting and performance monitoring, and PostHog for product analytics. FTC Tracker's iOS app configures Sentry without default PII and configures PostHog without automatic screen capture, session replay, or lifecycle event spam. Team Spaces analytics disables IP tracking and session recording. Some web properties may send client errors, web vitals, logs, route/page data, and Sentry replay samples for debugging.
Analytics and diagnostics may include technical identifiers, device/browser details, timestamps, route names, error messages, stack traces, and interaction events. We use this information to operate and improve the service, not to sell personal information.
6. Third-Party Services
FTC Tracker may use trusted third-party services to provide the app and website, including:
- Apple App Store, StoreKit, Apple Push Notification service, Speech Recognition, and Photos access on Apple platforms.
- Supabase for authentication and account-related email flows.
- Stripe for payment processing where web/backend billing is used.
- Resend for newsletter contact management and email delivery.
- Sentry for error reporting, logs, performance monitoring, and debugging.
- PostHog for product analytics.
- OpenAI or other AI infrastructure used by FTC Tracker's AI service.
- S3-compatible media storage for uploaded profile, team, space, and note images.
- Hosting, database, cache, and API infrastructure used to operate FTC Tracker services.
- FIRST and public FTC data sources for team, event, match, award, and ranking information.
These providers process information under their own privacy policies and service terms.
7. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information, including HTTPS, authenticated API access for account features, platform-provided secure storage for credentials where available, access controls, and limited-use tokens. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
8. Your Rights
You may delete the app to remove local app data from your device. You may unsubscribe from the newsletter using the unsubscribe option in emails or by contacting us. You may request access, correction, or deletion of account, Team Hub, Team Spaces, newsletter, or other personal data by contacting us at the email below. Some information may be retained when needed for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, backups, or legitimate service operations.
If you use FTC Tracker through a team, school, or organization, that organization may also control access to shared Team Hub or Team Spaces content.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as needed. Updates will be reflected with a new "Last updated" date above.
